Foreign Militant Killed in Khanyar, Srinagar Operation


Srinagar, November 2Security forces in the Khanyar area of Srinagar successfully conducted a 12-hour operation, eliminating a foreign militant identified as Usman Lashkari, a member of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Lashkari, active in the region for several months, was involved in several terror-related incidents, including a recent attack on Jammu and Kashmir Police Inspector Masroor Mir.

Injuries and Medical Response
During the encounter, four security personnel sustained injuries—two from the CRPF and two from the J&K Police Special Operations Group (SOG). All injured personnel were admitted to Army Hospital at Badami Bagh Cantonment, where their condition remains stable following medical intervention.

Operation Details
The joint operation, initiated around 4 a.m., was based on intelligence about terrorist activity in a Khanyar residential area. When security forces approached the building, Lashkari opened fire, leading to a prolonged gunfight. After a day-long exchange, the building was secured, and the militant was neutralized. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Vijay Kumar confirmed that a significant cache of arms and explosives was recovered, hinting at plans for further attacks.

Heightened Security Across Kashmir
Following this encounter and a recent surge in targeted attacks, security measures have been intensified throughout Kashmir. Officials stated that back-to-back operations and reinforced security measures are part of efforts to dismantle the local terror network and safeguard both residents and non-locals.

IGP Kumar visited the injured officers, commending their efforts and acknowledging their critical role in maintaining regional security. He noted the successful collaboration of multiple agencies as a key element in the region's fight against militancy.
